Dennis Russell Davies in rehearsal (Philip Glass Symphony No. 9 – US Premiere)
Today, on his 75th birthday, the American Composer Orchestra (ACO) will be performing the US premiere of Philip Glass’s Symphony No. 9. We were at the rehearsal and talked briefly with Dennis Russell Davies. Happy birthday Philip Glass!
Thank you to the ACO for letting me shoot part of the rehearsal.

Great video Thomas! I’m going to be working with (rather, under) Davies & Glass in a couple months, so this was an excellent taste of what’s to come. Davies’ conducting is so clear and he seems like a genuinely nice guy. I downloaded the Glass 9th this morning, and despite some nagging reservations about his music, I always find myself drawn in. Listening through again right now…

Thanks Will! It means a lot coming from you… Davies is indeed a wonderful person, and I was impressed by craft and his kind manners during the rehearsal. You’re lucky to be working with him soon!
I understand your reservations but Glass’s honesty always wins for me.
Thanks again for your comment!
