John Zorn’s Stone Commissioning Series Presents: Wendy Eisenberg

The John Zorn Commissioning Series celebrates The Stone, which served as a vital spot for new music in the East Village for over a decade. Held on the last Wednesday of every month, National Sawdust honors the spirit of The Stone, hosting artists selected by John Zorn presenting world premieres of new works. This month’s concert features improvising guitarist, banjo player, vocalist, and poet Wendy Eisenberg.

The program features the music of Rocco Di Pietro, performed by Mivos Quartet (strings); Joseph Kubera (piano); Kathleen Supové (piano); Robert Dick (flute); Larry Marotta (guitar) — plus a special performance of ​Hail Mary​ composed by the late Julius Eastman, with Di Pietro on piano. The program also includes the world premiere of Ben Neill’s ​Fantini Futuro, an audio-visual work based on the music and life of early Baroque trumpeter/composer Girolamo Fantini.
