Transformations | Face the Music

Kaufman Music Center’s Face the Music kicks off their 2019-2020 season at Roulette with a program exploring the theme of TRANSFORMATION—a motif that runs continuously throughout our ever-changing world. In the evening’s centerpiece, Face the Music performs alongside violinist-composer-vocalist Finnegan Shanahan in his work The Two Halves, a song cycle tracing the flow of the Hudson River. This concert is part of Kaufman Music Center’s season-long focus on “Transformation”—the power of music to transform lives.

John Zorn’s Stone Commissioning Series Presents: Ben Goldberg

The John Zorn Commissioning Series celebrates The Stone, Zorn’s revolutionary venue “dedicated to the experimental and avant-garde”, which served as a vital spot for new music in the East Village for over a decade. Held on the last Wednesday of every month, National Sawdust honors the spirit of The Stone, hosting artists selected by John Zorn presenting world premieres of new works. This month’s concert features clarinet player and composer Ben Goldberg.

Electric Sessions | Flauto d’Amore Project

Electric Sessions is a show that brings the Flauto d’Amore into the world of jazz and electronic music. The evening begins with an improvised set of electronic music featuring the Flauto d’Amore with Nathan Hudson and Ginevra Petrucci, and then new compositions and reimagined standards for jazz quartet, where Ginevra will be joined by Mikael Darmanie on piano, Keenan Zach on bass and Chris Bill on drums performing works written by Zach, Bill and Hudson.
